How do I use Privi?
The mobile and web apps support text messaging, image sharing, and voice calling. You can also generate a random email address to give out that forwards to your Privi account. -
How is my data protected?
When you send data to a contact, that data is encrypted before leaving your device and only decrypted on the recipient’s device. The server has no way to decrypt or manipulate that data. -
How is my identity protected?
Privi does not use any personal data to create your account. You never gave us your email address, phone number or even a username/password. The server assigns your account a unique random number when created. The name you use for your account is only visible to your contacts and is not required to be a real name. -
If identities are protected, how can I be sure of whom I’m communicating with?
When you added a contact, you either did it in person or shared the link only with them. It is up to you to verify the person you add, but Privi guarantees that the contact you added is the same contact you are communicating with. -
What if I lose my phone?
You can create a backup of your account and entrust it to one of your contacts. If you lose your phone, that trusted contact can remotely disable your account. That trusted contact is also the only one that can restore your account to a new device. -
What encryption algorithms does Privi use?
All data is encrypted with AES256 in Galois/Counter Mode. Encryption keys are exchanged using Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman with curve25519.
